Wash Your Hands!

Don’t reach for the hand sanitizer, wash your hands instead. Hand sanitizer may kill germs, but it leaves dead microbes behind for new germs to feed on and grow stronger.

Washing your hands is better because you rid your hands of microbes, both dead and alive, that can trigger infection and illness. The less bad microbes on your skin, the less chances for them to infect you.

Sing the ABCs or the “Happy Birthday” song as a timer.

There’s nothing worse than a short, quick rinse under water when you have filthy hands. You may think they’re clean and so you go around touching everything you would normally touch; however, you’re only spreading those microbes (dead and alive) for others to get sick.

Of course, if only hand sanitizer is available use it. It’s better than not using anything. Just be sure to wash your hands as soon as you can get to soap and running water.
